GLENN HIGGINS

Glenn Higgins, saxophonist/vocalist, is a Guelph (Ontario, Canada) native who has found success with a number of bands both in Canada and in the United States.

He plays the Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Baritone saxophones, and sings, lead vocals. Glenn  studied saxophone privately, but is mostly self-taught. Experience led to advice and guidance from everyone from King Curtis to Downbeat Award Winnder Lee Konitz.

Based in Toronto, Canada, Glenn is in demand as a sought-after saxman and vocalist. He has performed with such legendary groups as “The Temptations”, “Sam and Dave”, “The Drifters”, “Crowbar” and “Illustration”. “Illustration” was a ten piece Jazz/Rock group featured in the Rolling Stone magazine in the 1970’s, as competing with Blood Sweat and Tears and Chicago. He was also touring with ''MANMADE'in Quebec, where he also can be heard on the soundtrack for the movie ''APRES SKI".  Glenn was also featured on the recording “Pearly Gates of Heaven” for the vocalist Dan Clancy from the three times Juno Award Winning group “Lighthouse”. He is also the featured saxophone soloist on Teenage Head’s, Jack Pedlar’s CD which has reached the top ten across Canada. You will also hear Glenn perform on the Juno Award winning recording “I Got Nothing to Call My Own” by Jerry Ducette.

Since the 1960’s, Glenn has been highly applauded for his saxophone performances in Canada, the United States and Puerto Rico with bands such as “The Good Sheppards (Toronto), Maxima Show Band (Fort Lauderdale), Corky’s Latin Combo (San Juan), Illustration (New York city), Manmade (Montreal), Grant Smith & the Power (Toronto), George Oliver (Toronto) and Powerhouse (a Chicago Tribute Band). Glenn also performed with the “Ex Chairman of the Board” (Gimme Just a Little More Time), Harrison Kennedy & the Hurricanes.

Wanting to expand his horizons, Glenn returned to school to become a medic. After working as a paramedic for 15 years, he retired due to injuries incurred on the job. Thereafter, he picked up his musical hobby, discovered he had a voice which grabbed audiences and decided to work on a CD. The result “Homeward” showcases his voice and his captivating performances on the Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Baritone saxophones. His unique voice and emotional performances will leave you wanting for more.
